Freelancers, consultants, small agencies and social media sellers often need to get paid online but don’t run a website or store. Setting up an e-commerce platform just to collect one payment is overkill. A payment link solves this: you create a link for a specific amount, send it to your customer, and they pay in their browser.
What is a payment link?
A payment link is a secure URL tied to a specific amount and currency. Your customer opens it, chooses how to pay and completes the payment on a hosted checkout page. You can share it anywhere — email, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram DMs or an invoice PDF.
How to create a payment link with WerninBill
- Open the Create Payment Link page.
- Enter the amount and choose the currency (USD, EUR or GBP).
- Pick a payment provider, or leave it on “All Available Providers” so your customer can choose.
- Enter your customer’s email and your USDC (Polygon) self-custodial wallet — this is where you’ll be paid.
- Click Create Payment Link, copy the link and send it to your customer.
There’s no account to create and nothing to install.
How your customer pays
Your customer can pay using the providers available in their region, including card options through Stripe, Coinbase Pay, PayPal (USA), Revolut (EU/EEA), Transak, Banxa, Simplex and local methods such as iDEAL, Interac and UPI. They don’t need a crypto wallet. You receive USDC on Polygon to the wallet you entered.
Tracking the payment
Every payment has a reference number. You can paste it — or your wallet address — into the payment tracker to open its on-chain history.
Fees
WerninBill takes a flat 1% platform fee on successful payments. The provider your customer picks may charge its own processing fee. See pricing.
Tips for getting paid faster
- Send the link together with a short description of what it’s for and the amount, so your customer recognises it.
- Leave the provider set to “All Available Providers” unless you know which one your customer prefers — it gives them the best chance of a method that works in their country.
- Double-check your wallet address before creating the link. Crypto payouts can’t be reversed.
